THOUGHTS THAT MAKE
ACTIONS IN THE WORLD

A six-month project making a small series of fine art animations that responded to a proposed regeneration site in Preston, Lancashire.
Shown in an empty shop in St. Johns Shopping Centre, part of the site and displayed on a window and a large sheet of paper stretched from floor to ceiling, and across from wall to wall.

The installation animations

The film opens with a view of the lines incorporated in the all the visual structures and furnishings - lines on the ceiling, lines on the floor. Rapid-cut montages begin to harmonise with the movement of the shopping centre surrounding the installation and the angled sequences of colour and shape extracted from the study of the drab prefabricated modern building become hypnotic. On top of all this is mapped a pastoral layer of sound an imagined soundtrack made to mark small unerasable moments of time passing.

A new soundtrack, a response of external evaluation in poetic form, was made shortly after, see right.
